"Helene started tutoring my son only 7 months before the GCSE exams. My son was doing two languages and struggling. We did not feel there was enough support from the school and decided to have a tutor for extra lessons. Helene is a very good teacher, but more importantly, she knows and understands the educational system and is able to help and support in preparation for exams. Helene always prepares her lessons very well and gives full focus to the student. My son's results for both Spanish and French were better than his predictions and it was the extra lessons that Helene provided that made it possible.  We feel very fortunate to have her to teach now our other son, who will be sitting his GCSE exams in about two years' time. "Helene has been teaching both my children, aged 11 and 14 years, for 8 months and I have been very impressed by her teaching. The older child is in Year 9 and needs help moving towards G.C.S.E. standard work. Helene, through her time spent working in schools, has a clear understanding of how to prepare students for specific assessments and has a good range of teaching and learning tools to enable clear progress through a varied and interactive approach. She also sets homework which supports him in his independent learning. Her teaching has been invaluable in ensuring that he has a good understanding the work he is learning at school.

 

My younger child has just begun learning a second language. She is dyslexic so has difficulties learning spellings and with writing. Helene has done a great deal to improve her enjoyment and build her confidence when speaking, writing and listening to French. Through a series of interactive games, quizzes and skilled teaching my daughter is making clear progress.

 

Finally and critically with home tuition, both my children enjoy spending time with Helene as she is always up beat and encouraging. Even when my teenage son is grumpy about doing extra work he has nothing but good things to say about Helene and the work she helps him with. I would wholeheartedly recommend her as a tutor. As a secondary teacher myself I can see that Helene has the skills, knowledge and positive approach needed to ensure that her students achieve their potential." - March 2014

"I honestly have nothing negative to say. Learning a new language can be difficult and sometimes boring, but with Hélène (btw I downloaded a french keyboard!) its neither. She is very good at understanding the ability of the student and works at a pace that suits him or her. She is easily approachable via email and can be very flexible with her timing.

 

I definitely improved my French since I started 12 weeks ago. Prior to that I was learning French in a small class with other students, but this was not as efficient as the one to one tutoring. In a short period, I am now able to carry out simple conversations in French confidently, something that I thought would be very difficult before starting my tuitions with Hélène.

 

In my opinion, what makes Hélène stand out between my previous experiences with French tutoring is her ability to tailor the lessons according to the student's needs. To sum it up, I highly recommend Hélène for those who would like to learn or improve their French." - March 2014
